Gotta be honest here - this album leans towards more trained ears, but once you get it, you completely get it. Bickle is a new artist to the lounge, and what an introduction his 2nd proper album has been. Intially introduced through an Instagram reel set to the bridge of “cry on the dancefloor!”, finding him suddenly feels like stumbling upon the early makings of the next underground superstar. This also feels oddly reminiscent of discoveing Brakence, in the way that his blow up feels all but certain. Bickle seems to share the same, weirdly specific brand of star power as Brakence, who has risen as the pioneer and bonafide king of the hyperpop sound since his first album.

Bickle has a way of intertwining so many different genres, yet staying authentic to his own, ultra-specific sound. With that, there is also a certain familiarity you feel throughout this project. Something about it feels homemade, but in a comforting way. Certain ways the microphone pops on different words, the slight grain in his voice, and how it somehow feels like he’s literally in the same room as you while he sings. Another piece of that familiarity could be the traces of JMSN, Steve Lacy, and even Jamiroquai in his vocals at different times. “Something Tells Me” sounds eerily similar to “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy if you listen to it from just the right perspective, “cry on the dancefloor!” gives off vibes that are similar to “Soft Spot” by JMSN, and his voice’s overall excited demeanor is reminiscent of Jamiroquai’s groove music that graced the late ‘90’s to early 2000’s. Long story short: It’s an album unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, but in the best way possible. The only question left to ask is: how is the entire world not talking about it?
