Orion sun is somebody who HSL has had a wandering eye on for several years now. Random tracks would always end up popping up, and her last EP (“Getaway”) snatched our attention fully (more on that later…). With that last EP, there was high anticipation to hear her next full length. She say she smashed all expectations would be an understatement, and quite honestly, future you will beat yourself for not listening to it sooner. Released back in September of 2024, we were a few months late to the game on this one. Better late than never.

This album was a slow burn to full appreciation, but that’s how the best music hits you anyways. One of the best parts about music projects is how your perception changes with every listen. Orion Sun has a uniquely soft, yet powerful voice that melts over each track. In a way, this album plays a lot like a Cleo Sol project in terms of the general relaxing, soul-searching demeanor. The entire album feels like a warm hug in the sun during a walk in the park on a beautiful summer day. We found the songwriting to be highly introspective (a favorite here at the Lounge) and unique in the way that she carefully, yet assertively approaches subjects. Also, the production is so comforting you can fall asleep to it. It’s giving dreamy R&B… Dream&B™️, if you will. This is a chill, relaxing album you should listen to as you’re cleaning the house or on a long solo roadtrip.

Dedicate yourself to giving this a few listens and we guarantee you’ll fall in love with this underrated masterpiece. The only thing worse than waiting so long to discover this ablum was realizing that we missed out on the tour, too. HOWEVER! God does answer prayers — she announced a 2nd leg recently. Our bags are packed.
